“Ghazal Safarnama” (Journey of Ghazal Through Ages) is a unique musical event presented by Naba Chhandam. You will witness the remarkable development of Ghazal in this carefully curated exhibition, from its inception to its contemporary incarnations. Ghazal is an art form that combines Urdu poetry and music; it is not merely a musical style. Each artist is free to express sur (melody) and kavya (poetry) in their own distinctive way thanks to its adaptable structure.

The depth of the Urdu language, which eloquently expresses sentiments and emotions, is what makes Ghazal so beautiful. Despite its Persian origins, India has long cherished and nurtured this musical style. Beyond national borders, this style has been enhanced every day by countless renowned artists such as Begum Akhtar, Farida Khanum, Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali, Pankaj Udhas, Jagjit Singh, Chandan Dass, Anup Jalota, Talat Aziz, and Hariharan. The pass is valid for a single entry and will be scanned at the entrance.

Padmasri Anup Jalota (Know More...)
is a celebrated Indian singer, musician, and actor, widely known as the “Bhajan Samrat” (Emperor of Bhajans). He is renowned for his significant contributions to the bhajan and ghazal genres of Indian music. In recognition of his artistic achievements, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri award in 2012. Besides his musical career, he was also a contestant on the popular reality show, Bigg Boss. In his upcoming performance, he will pay tribute to legendary artists like Pankaj Udhas, Mohammed Rafi, and Bhupinder Singh, in addition to performing many of his own ghazals.

Currently learning Ghazals from Srimati Prabhati Mukhopadhyay, her debut Bengali album “Shopno Chokher Taray” features collaborations with notable artists like Nachiketa Chakraborty and Joy Sarkar.
