“Ghazal Safarnama” (Journey of Ghazal Through Ages) is a unique musical event presented by Naba Chhandam. You will witness the remarkable development of Ghazal in this carefully curated exhibition, from its inception to its contemporary incarnations. Ghazal is an art form that combines Urdu poetry and music; it is not merely a musical style. Each artist is free to express sur (melody) and kavya (poetry) in their own distinctive way thanks to its adaptable structure.
Ghazal’s Persistent Appeal
The depth of the Urdu language, which eloquently expresses sentiments and emotions, is what makes Ghazal so beautiful. Despite its Persian origins, India has long cherished and nurtured this musical style. Beyond national borders, this style has been enhanced every day by countless renowned artists such as Begum Akhtar, Farida Khanum, Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali, Pankaj Udhas, Jagjit Singh, Chandan Dass, Anup Jalota, Talat Aziz, and Hariharan. Without a doubt, Ghazals’ timeless appeal across generations keeps its legacy alive.
